Ethical and Legal concerns in Healthcare Delivery
This course examines the key ethical principles and legal frameworks that guide healthcare delivery in Ghana. It empowers health professionals with the knowledge to navigate complex decisions involving patient autonomy, confidentiality, consent, professional boundaries, and the legal implications of clinical actions.
Participants will explore real-world ethical dilemmas and legal cases common in the Ghanaian healthcare context, including issues of medical negligence, informed consent, end-of-life decisions, patient rights, and whistleblowing. The course integrates Ghana Health Service guidelines, the Code of Ethics for health professionals, and relevant legal statutes such as the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act.
Through scenario analysis and group discussions, healthcare workers will strengthen their ability to provide ethically sound and legally compliant care while protecting themselves from liability.
